The 2026 FIFA World Cup may have just concluded, but football fans will not have to wait long for the return of the club game.

Rabat – Real Betis received a major boost on Tuesday as Moroccan international Abde Ezzalzouli was given the green light to rejoin his teammates in group training after completing an intensive individual rehabilitation program.

Ezzalzouli was spotted during the media-open portion of Betis’ training session wearing a medical bandage around his right knee, indicating that he is continuing to progress in his recovery from the injury he suffered in early June.

The injury forced the winger to miss Morocco’s recent World Cup campaign, adding to the frustration for a player who had been an important part of the national team setup.

His return to collective training comes at an important moment for Betis, with the Spanish club preparing for the start of the new La Liga season. The team had initially begun its preseason without several key players due to injuries, including Isco, Antony, Aitor Ruibal, and Ezzalzouli.

Isco and Antony have since returned to action and featured in Betis’ preseason preparations, while Ezzalzouli’s latest step represents another positive development for head coach Manuel Pellegrini.

The 24-year-old will now look to build up his fitness and regain his rhythm before competitive football resumes. His return is particularly important given his pace, direct style, and ability to create chances from the wing.

Betis will open their 2026-27 La Liga campaign at home against Real Sociedad on August 21 before travelling to face Valencia on August 25. The club will then visit Levante on August 29.

With less than two weeks remaining before the league opener, Ezzalzouli’s return to full team training gives Betis an encouraging sign. However, the club is expected to manage his workload carefully as he completes the final stages of his recovery.

For the Moroccan winger, the immediate objective will be to regain full match fitness and return to competitive action after a difficult summer interrupted by injury.
