Rabat – OCP Group is looking to strengthen its presence in the global animal feed sector by acquiring indirect exclusive control of Global Feed SLU through an increased stake of 75%. This move will be carried out through its Dutch subsidiary, OCP International Coöperatieve UA.
The Moroccan phosphate giant has submitted its proposal to Morocco’s Competition Council, seeking approval for the acquisition of an additional 25% of Global Feed’s capital and voting rights.
“The Competition Council has received notification of an economic concentration operation involving OCP SA, which intends to acquire, through its subsidiary OCP International Coöperatieve UA, indirect exclusive control of Global Feed SLU,” the council said in a press release.
The statement added that the acquisition of the 25% stake in its share capital and voting rights will bring OCP’s participation to a total of 75%.
The group initially acquired 50% of Global Feed’s shares in May 2023 from Fertinagro Biotech, a leading Spanish fertilizer producer. This earlier acquisition marked OCP’s entry into the animal nutrition market.
Following their initial acquisition, Houda Sabti, Animal Nutrition Director at OCP, said that “through this transaction, we aim to strengthen the positioning of the OCP Group in the sector of products dedicated to animal nutrition and to expand our geographical presence.
The council has invited interested third parties to submit their observations on the transaction by December 19, noting that the information provided by the notifying parties is their responsibility and does not imply the Council’s approval of the transaction or its documentation.
The acquisition of the additional 25% aligns with OCP’s vision of becoming a key global player in animal feed. However, the finalization of the deal depends on the approval of the Competition Council, which will evaluate its market impact.
Global Feed, headquartered in Huelva, Spain, specializes in manufacturing and marketing animal nutrition solutions. Its flagship products include dicalcium phosphate (DCP), monocalcium phosphate (MCP), and iron sulfate, which are essential components for enhancing the nutritional quality of livestock feed.
