Rabat – Moroccan police at Tanger Med Port arrested a 20-year-old Danish man on Thursday who was the subject of an international arrest warrant for premeditated murder.

Authorities confirmed the arrest was made as the suspect prepared to board a ferry to a Spanish port.

The arrest was made after a routine security check, which included cross-referencing the suspect’s details with an international police database.

Interpol’s database revealed that the man was the subject of a red notice, an international alert issued at the request of the Danish authorities.

The red notice indicated that he was wanted for his alleged involvement in a series of violent crimes, including premeditated murder.

The Danish national is believed to be connected to a criminal gang that planned and carried out several violent assaults and murders, using firearms.

Investigations have indicated that the gang was involved in a number of targeted attacks, though further details of the crimes are still being examined.

Following his arrest, the suspect was placed in police custody and is being held while Moroccan authorities, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, continue their investigation.

The goal is to clarify the full scope of his alleged criminal activities and gather more evidence on the gang’s operations.

Morocco has continued to express commitment to international law enforcement cooperation, particularly in addressing transnational crime.

Moroccan authorities have been actively involved in tracking individuals wanted by international organizations such as Interpol.

Morocco participated in the 92nd INTERPOL General Assembly held in Glasgow last month, where it received the INTERPOL flag to officially mark the handover of the event to Marrakech in 2025.

Led by Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Morocco’s delegation said the country is committed to combating transnational crime and terrorism by leveraging advanced technologies like artificial intelligence to enhance police operations.
