Morocco is officially going to the Round of 16 after a spectacular and outstanding performance. The Atlas Lions are saying, “Who’s next?” and the next ones are Canada.
Morocco delivered an outstanding performance, leaving everyone in awe. Their display was top-notch from start to finish despite missing golden opportunities that could have finished the game well before the shootout or extra time. But it is never too late. Yassine Bounou was there to the rescue, leaving the Dutch impressed and frustrated, and Ismael Saibari finished the deal with an outstanding penalty kick that he swore he would not miss.
Morocco erupted in celebrations, with car horns echoing all over the streets that for sure won’t stop for hours, despite it already being 5 a.m. at the time of writing.
People stayed awake until the last minute of the match to seize the moment and celebrate.
As celebrations continue, all eyes are on Saturday, when the Atlas Lions will face off against Canada. The game will take place on July 4 at 6 p.m. Moroccan time.
The match will take place in the US at Houston Stadium.
Ahead of the game, Canada’s head coach, Jesse Marsch, praised both Morocco and the Netherlands after his team safely reached the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16.
Marsch described Morocco as a “modern giant.”
Commenting on the game, Canada’s coach said: “I feel like it’s a free hit, and we’re going to go after it and do everything we can to see if we can find a way to get a win.”
