Rabat — Moroccan international football player Hakim Ziyech reportedly demanded the full payment of his release clause following the termination of his contract by Galatasaray.
Converging reports said Ziyech’s decision had taken the club’s management by surprise as he demanded to be paid all his outstanding dues through the end of the season.
This means that Ziych’s cost to Galatasaray is estimated at over €5.5 million annually.
After a grand reception upon his arrival at Galatasaray in June, Ziyech’s time at the Turkish club quickly took an unexpected turn.
What seemed like a promising partnership soon soured as Ziyech voiced his dissatisfactions, including his limited playing time and inconsistent appearances on the pitch.
“Galatasaray is over for me. I don’t want to play here, I’m leaving in January,” Ziyech said in an interview earlier this month.
Sports commentators Haluk Yürekli and Gökhan Dinç said on their “Spor Gecesi” program that Ziyech has delivered harsh criticism against the club’s manager Okan Buruk, saying he had never seen a coach “with such a low profile” as him.
“I don’t really care… let them leave me alone, what happens. I already regret coming here,” he was also quoted as saying.
The player deleted all his Galatasaray related photos from his Instagram account.
Several reports have covered the recent tribulations within Ziyech’s career, including the significant downturn as his market value plummeted from a peak of $54.5 million to $5.45 million.
