Initial reports suggest Morocco star Ismael Saibari may have suffered a hamstring strain after picking up a potential injury during the Atlas Lions’ FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash against Canada.
Saibari left the match in the 22nd minute after feeling pain in his thigh, raising concerns over his availability for Morocco’s upcoming quarterfinal.
While initial reports point to a possible hamstring strain, Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi said the Atlas Lion experienced pain in his thigh, stressing that it was still too early to determine the extent of the injury.
Speaking during his post-match press conference, Ouahbi explained that he had not yet met with the team’s doctor and was awaiting a medical assessment before providing an update on Saibari’s condition.
Ouahbi also commented on Chadi Riad’s absence, saying the decision was a precautionary measure to ensure that every player deployed during the match was fully fit.
Morocco delivered another masterclass in its Round of 16 clash against Canada, securing a commanding 3-0 victory on Saturday night to book a place in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals. The win came after the Atlas Lions endured an intense and physically demanding first half, with Canada pressing aggressively and attempting to disrupt Morocco’s rhythm.
The national team regained control through Azzedine Ounahi, who scored twice to put Morocco firmly in command. Soufiane Rahimi also found the net, scoring his second goal of the tournament to complete another memorable night for the Atlas Lions.
