Rabat – Following months of speculations about his upcoming destination after a tough go with Galatasaray, Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech is reportedly joining Qatari club Al Duhail.
Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano said on X today that “Hakim Ziyech has reached a verbal agreement to join Al Duhail in Qatar as his next club after Galatasaray.”
Several sports outlets have been speculating that the Atlas Lion could be heading to Italian club Napoli, while others reported that Ziyech has been in talks with French club Lille.
However, it seems that Ziyech is leaving Turkiye for the Gulf region, a trend that has been on the rise among top football players in recent years.
The Moroccan player joined Galatasaray in August 2023 on loan from Chelsea before signing for the Turkish club on a permanent basis in June 2024.
After a productive start with Galatasaray, Ziyech faced some setbacks and eventually announced he did not want to play for the club anymore.
“Galatasaray is over for me. I don’t want to play here anymore. I’m leaving in January,” he said, according to journalist Haluk Yurekli.
He also took aim at the club’s manager, saying “I’ve never seen a coach of such a low level.”
“I don’t care that much. I want to be left alone, no matter what happens. I regret coming here,” the player added.
Ziyech also deleted all photos related to Galatasaray from his Instagram account. It seems the player is more than ready to turn the page and start a new chapter elsewhere.
