Rabat – Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech is in serious talks with French club Lille after falling out of favour at Galatasaray. This comes as the Ligue 1 side look to bolster their midfield for a European push.
Ziyech has been struggling at Turkiye’s Galatasaray and could be set for a move to France with Lille leading the race to secure his signature.
The 31-year-old winger impressed at Chelsea and Ajax but has endured a turbulent spell in Turkiye, making just five league appearances this season under manager Okan Buruk. He has also been sidelined from the first team since mid-December.
According to well-placed Galatasaray insider Sami Yen Haber, Ziyech is eager for a fresh start – and Lille are ready to offer him an escape route.
“Lille have made the most progress for Ziyech so far. They are trying to finish the job, we’ll see,” said Yen Haber in an X post.
The Ligue 1, currently fifth in the table, are pushing for a European spot, and are reportedly in advanced talks with Galatasaray over a winter transfer.
Ziyech, known for his keen vision, accurate passing, and pinpoint set-pieces, could provide the creative spark Lille need to boost their campaign.
Despite a difficult season in Istanbul and a fiery temper, Ziyech remains a world-class talent.
Lille’s interest comes at a crucial time, as they face a lengthy absence of key winger Edon Zhegrova, who is set to miss six weeks with a pubic injury.
Ziyech’s potential arrival would be a major deal for Lille, who are looking to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.
The Atlas Lion joined Galatasaray in August 2023 but has struggled to make an impact managing just one assist in 11 appearances across all competitions.
Ziyech’s representatives are keen to secure a move away from Turkiye. The former Chelsea man is under contract with Galatasaray until June 2025, but a winter exit now looms ahead.
