Rabat – Morocco and Cape Verde reaffirmed today their commitment to deepening bilateral relations, including military cooperation, during a high-level meeting in Rabat.
Abdeltif Loudyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, met with Janine Tatiana Santos Lelis, Cape Verde’s Minister of State for National Defense on Friday. The meeting took place at the National Defense Administration headquarters in Rabat.
Also present at the meeting were General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, and a high-ranking delegation from Cape Verde, including the country’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and its Ambassador to Morocco.
This visit aimed to strengthen and expand the partnership between Morocco and Cape Verde. The two ministers reviewed the current areas of cooperation and explored new opportunities, focusing on the exchange of military expertise and experiences, according to a statement from the National Defense Administration.
Loudyi recalled Morocco’s efforts to promote regional stability and security. These include the Royal Initiative which King Mohammed VI launched to transform Africa’s Atlantic coastline into a hub of economic integration, peace, and shared prosperity. The initiative aims to benefit all countries in the Atlantic region and the Sahel.
Meanwhile, Santos Lelis commended the partnership between the two countries and expressed admiration for Morocco’s South-South cooperation initiatives. She noted the importance of Morocco’s leadership in supporting regional development across the continent.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen their collaboration and announced plans to finalize and sign a military cooperation agreement in the near future. This agreement will reflect the strong friendship and mutual respect between the two countries, the statement concluded.
