Rabat – FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed today that Morocco will host the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, the first edition to feature 24 teams.
The tournament will take place from October 17 to November 8, marking a significant milestone for women’s football in the country.
“Morocco, a nation of football enthusiasts, will welcome the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in 2025. This event offers a fantastic platform for young players to showcase their talent on the global stage,” Infantino stated on Instagram.
The announcement follows FIFA’s decision in March 2024 to entrust Morocco with hosting the next five editions of the U17 Women’s World Cup.
By taking on this responsibility, Morocco becomes the first African nation to host this prestigious tournament.
The U17 Women’s World Cup, which began in 2008 in New Zealand, traveled to diverse locations over the years, including Trinidad and Tobago, Azerbaijan, Costa Rica, Jordan, Uruguay, India, and the Dominican Republic.
The 2025 edition in Morocco will kick off a new chapter for the competition, with its expansion to 24 teams and a shift to an annual schedule.
Morocco is quickly becoming a key player in global football, with the country set to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
These milestones reflect Morocco’s growing passion for the sport and its commitment to bringing major football events to the region.
