Rabat – Marrakech’s allure and magic attract tourists as well as attention from renowned magazines and travel websites, including TripAdvisor.
The website released its Travelers’ Choice Awards list, featuring Marrakech as one of the ‘Best of the Best Travel Destinations’ for 2025.
TripAdvisor ranked Marrakech as the 8th best destination in the world to visit this year, describing the city as a “magical place.”
The travel platform’s feature zoomed in on the Red City’s local markets, gardens, palaces, and mosques.
“Exploring the intimate courtyards and snaking alleyways of the historic medina can easily eat up a day,” TripAdvisor wrote, inviting visitors to explore the “inner peace” at the Jardin Majorelle.
Visitors can also “take in the beauty of the city’s historic mosques,” the travel giant added.
Latest data from the Marrakech Safi Regional Tourism Council said Marrakech recorded nearly four million visitors in 2024.
The region also recorded over 12 million overnight stays with an average occupancy rate surpassing 72%.
Marrakech assets are not only attractive to TripAdvisor.
Earlier this month, Forbes featured Marrakech – particularly the authentic Royal Mansour Marrakech resort – among a list of six wellness destinations to visit in 2025.
“The Royal Mansour Marrakech is a portal into a world of opulence, history, mysticism, and ancient wellness practices,” the magazine wrote, adding that the hotel is centrally located nested close to the famous Jemaa El Fna square.
Morocco has been intensifying efforts to boost its tourism draw worldwide.
The country celebrated 17.4 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2024 – a number that even exceeded its 2026 target.
The number also represents a 20% increase compared to 2023 – amounting to nearly three million additional tourists.
The ministry attributed the positive development to foreign tourists, whose arrivals reached 8.8 million as well as Moroccans residing abroad, who accounted for 8.6 million arrivals.
