Rabat – Hakim Ziyech might be heading to Napoli as the Italian club prepares for life without Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Napoli’s coach, Antonio Conte, confirmed on Saturday that Kvaratskhelia has handed in a transfer request. Reports suggest that the Georgian winger will relocate to France for a big €80m move to Paris Saint-Germain.
But Napoli aren’t sitting still. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club already has a few names in mind to fill the gap.
One perfect-fit option is Morocco’s Hakim Ziyech who currently plays for the Turkish team, Galatasaray. The 31-year-old’s contract expires in June, and Napoli are keen to lure him in during the January transfer window.
Ziyech has fallen out of favour with Galatasaray’s coach, Okan Buruk, and demands to be paid the full €5.5m release clause to terminate his contract, according to reports from Turkish media.
Ziyech had signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with Galatasaray at the beginning of the 2024-2025 season. However, he has found himself mostly on the bench, playing only 11 matches and clocking just 320 minutes.
According to Turkish media, the 31-year-old playmaker explicitly expressed his desire to leave the Turkish club, saying: “Galatasaray is over for me. I don’t want to play here, I’m leaving in January.”
Ziyech has also been linked to a move to the Qatari club Al-Arabi. Coach Antony Hudson has expressed a strong desire for the playmaker and the Qatari board has reportedly begun official negotiations.
Saudi club Al-Nassr is also reportedly interested in Ziyech as they seek to bolster their attacking setup, pairing the Moroccan with the club’s superstars including Sadio Mané, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ziyech’s future remains uncertain, and his place on the Moroccan national team might be in jeopardy. His next move could significantly impact his career ahead of the 2025 Morocco African Cup of Nations.
