Rabat – The Palestinian Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs, Mohammed Najm, has expressed wholehearted recognition of King Mohammed VI’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian official made the comments on Monday, during a meeting with the Moroccan ambassador to Palestine, Abderrahim Meziane.

He talked about the significant role of the King, who oversees the activities of the Al-Quds Committee, in defending Islamic shrines, especially the Al Aqsa Mosque.

The meeting was an opportunity to explore means of cooperation in the religious field.

It was also a chance to discuss the implementation of a cooperation memorandum signed by Morocco and Palestine. The memorandum facilitates the exchange of experts in regard to mosques management, Quran memorization centers, and the development of media programs dedicated to religious sensibilization.

Najm pointed out that this cooperation reflects the longstanding brotherly relations that tie the two countries.

Although Morocco has been under criticism over reestablishing ties with Israel in December 2020, still, the country has repeatedly reaffirmed its steady advocacy of the Palestinian cause.

On multiple occasions, Moroccan diplomats have reiterated the position of the North African country towards Israel’s genocide in  Gaza, calling for protecting civilians through an immediate and long term ceasefire.

In December 2024, Palestine’s foreign minister spoke proudly of Morocco’s support for his country, expressing that both country’s leaders hold a shared vision, diagnosis, and approach to the Palestinian cause.

The strong diplomatic ties come at a critical time as  Israel Occupation Forces’ (IOF) relentless bombardment of Gaza continues. Last night the IOF killed at least 31 Palestinians and injured 57 others.

The Palestinian death toll from Israel’s genocide in Gaza has reached at least 45,885 with 109,196 others injured since October 7, 2023. The real numbers are expected to be even higher as many remain trapped under the rubble or sprawled dead across the streets.
