Rabat – A recent UK Food Security Report 2024 recognized Morocco-UK’s growing robust agricultural ties.
The report demonstrated the importance of the Morocco-UK partnership, particularly in agricultural trade. Morocco has emerged as a key supplier of fresh produce to the UK market, including fresh vegetables with 7.5% in 2023.
Morocco appeared as a major producer of fertilizers, alongside China and the US, with a slight decline of 1.9% to 46.1 million tons between 2019 and 2022, although longer-term trends show overall growth, according to the report.

As the sector is a vital pillar in Morocco’s economy, the ministry of agriculture has implemented measures to sustain farmers in the 2024-2025 campaign.
These include distributing certified seeds at reduced prices, subsidizing fertilizers, and launching an ambitious but necessary irrigation program covering 700,000 hectares.
These initiatives are part of the broader “Green Generation 2020-2030” strategy, designed to ensure agricultural sustainability and resilience.
Morocco’s agricultural sector is bolstered by advanced farming techniques, investments in irrigation, and sustainable practices that maximize productivity while conserving resources.
The country’s ability to efficiently meet international market demands is further enhanced by its climate and geographic proximity to Europe.
Morocco is increasingly emerging as a model for sustainable agricultural development, and the country’s experiences through overcoming their own global challenges can offer lessons for global food security.
