Rabat – The National Committee of Medical Residents, Interns, Pharmacists, and Dentists (CNIR) announced a temporary halt to the strikes that have marked their year-long fight for fair treatment.
The committee also decided to cancel the nationwide protest planned for January 8, 2025, in what they described as a move prioritizing public health and unity.
“We reached this decision after careful deliberation. Our primary concern remains the health of citizens and the continuity of medical services,” the committee stated.
They noted the importance of ensuring better training opportunities for residents, interns, and young medical professionals.
The committee called on local associations to hold general assemblies. “This is a chance to discuss our next steps and agree on a united vision for the way forward,” they added.
Acknowledging the solidarity they received, the committee extended gratitude to colleagues, professors, and the press for their support. “We cannot thank the public enough for standing with us. Their understanding of our fair demands kept us going,” the statement read.
Despite the halt, the group pledged to continue advocating for systemic reforms in healthcare. “We remain determined to fight for a just and efficient healthcare system that values the critical role of medical residents and interns,” they said.
The CNIR says they remain hopeful about the future. “Our demands are fair, and we will explore every peaceful and constructive means to achieve a healthcare system that is equitable for all,” they concluded.
The announcement marks a significant moment in the ongoing efforts to reform the healthcare sector, where medical residents and interns have long voiced concerns over working conditions and inadequate resources.
Many have called for greater recognition of their sacrifices and a system that not only ensures patient care but also respects the well-being and professional growth of healthcare workers.
