Roma has sealed a last-minute deal to sign Dutch-Moroccan full-back Anas Salah-Eddine from FC Twente. The 23-year-old will replace Samuel Dahl, who is on his way to Benfica before the transfer window shuts.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Roma will pay Twente between €7 million and €8 million for Salah-Eddine. The club has already agreed on personal terms with the player and wrapped up the move before the deadline yesterday.
Salah-Eddine will be Roma’s third signing of the January window. He follows his fellow Dutchman Devyne Rensch from Ajax and backup goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, who replaced Maty Ryan after his move to Lens. Roma also hopes to sign Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson before the window closes.
The young full-back, who played for Ajax’s youth teams before joining Twente, now takes on a new challenge in Italy. He arrived in Rome with his agent, Mohamed Sinouh, and has officially signed with the Giallorossi.
Salah-Eddine has played for the Netherlands at youth level, but Morocco’s national coach, Walid Regragui, may now push to bring him into the Atlas Lions squad. The Dutch FA had been trying to convince him to commit to the Netherlands, but with his move to Italy, Morocco could now have the upper hand.
