Rabat – Moroccan police announced today the arrest of two suspects for their involvement in the kidnapping of a 60-year-old woman in Sidi Bennour, in the Casablanca-Settat region.
“Two individuals were arrested in the city of Sidi Bennour, suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of a woman, subjecting her to detention, and attempting to steal a sum of money. These criminal acts were the subject of a video that was shared on social media,” DGSN said on X.
The case made local headlines days ago as a surveillance camera documented the moment when the woman was kidnapped in a Hollywood-style abduction operation.
The video circulating online captured the moment a car stopped beside the victim, while three individuals, including a woman, forced her into the vehicle and sped off.
Converging reports indicate that the suspects kidnapped the woman after learning she recently received MAD 200,000 from a property sale.
One accomplice, a woman, monitored the victim’s movements before her abduction.

Moroccans took to social networks to condemn the incident, demanding severe punishment against the perpetrators.
DGSN 2024 report said that a total of 755,541 criminal cases were recorded last year.
The number documents a slight increase compared to the 738,748 cases registered in 2023.
Violent crimes impacting citizens’ sense of security saw a significant 10% decrease, the report said.
Aggravated theft cases decreased by 24%, according to the report, while violent thefts decreased by 12%.
Bulgaries decreased by 10%, while sexual assaults dropped by 4%.
Drug-related cases decreased by 7% and thefts targeting bank agencies also dropped by 45%.
