Royal Air Maroc (RAM) today announced that it has renewed its partnership with the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) for the next three editions.

Under the agreement, Royal Air Maroc will serve as the official carrier of the festival, which will take place from February 25 to March 4 in Ouagadougou.

According to Royal Air Maroc, the festival will feature 235 films selected from 1,351 submissions. The films represent filmmakers from a total of 48 countries.

The statement further details that the partnership between Royal Air Maroc and the festival dates back to 2014, showcasing the airline’s “commitment as a supportive actor in the cultural development of Africa.”

The partnership also aims to “enhance” the visibility of the pan-African event which seeks to promote African cinema and television.

“We are very honored by the renewal of our partnership, which undoubtedly contributes to the promotion of African culture and the growth of African cinema,” Royal Air Maroc CEO Hamid Addou said.

He stated the partnership is aligned with King Mohammed VI’s South-South vision, noting that it also aligns with RAM‘s development plan.

The company’s objective is to strengthen air traffic and air connections between Africa and the rest of the world, he said, noting that Royal Air Maroc “continues its policy of supporting major artistic and cultural events in Africa.”

In addition to the Ouagadougou’s festival, Royal Air Maroc is also the official carrier for the International Film Festival of Marrakech, the Bamako Encounters, the African Arts and Entertainment Market of Abidjan, and the Ecran Noirs Film Festival in Cameroon, among others.

“As a continental reference layer, RAM also strengthens, through its network via its Casablanca hub, the connection between Africa and the world and makes African metropolises accessible to major international cities,” Royal Air Maroc statement concluded.
