Morocco Celebrates Princess Lalla Khadija’s 18th Birthday

Princess Khadija's Birthday

Fez – On Friday, the Moroccan people and the Royal Family celebrate the 18th birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Khadija.

This special occasion shows the strong connection between the Moroccan people and the Royal Family, as well as the deep respect and affection the nation holds for the Alaouite Dynasty.

The celebration brings back memories of February 28, 2007, when the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol, and Chancellery announced the birth of Princess Lalla Khadija.

The news brought joy not only to the Royal Family but to the entire country. From cities to villages, Moroccans expressed their happiness in many ways, showing their love for the Royal Family.

Across the country, streets, squares, and public buildings were decorated with lights, flags, and colorful banners.

Books of congratulations were opened at the Royal Protocol offices and in local government buildings across Morocco, allowing citizens to express their joy and best wishes.

The Moroccan community living abroad also joined in the celebrations. At Moroccan embassies and consulates around the world, citizens, diplomats, and public figures gathered to offer their congratulations to King Mohammed VI and the Royal Family.

Over the years, Princess Lalla Khadija has gradually taken part in public life. One important moment was in September 2011, when her first day of school took place at the Royal School inside the Royal Palace in Rabat.

King Mohammed VI attended the event, proudly watching his daughter embark on her education journey. On that day, the Princess and her classmates attended their first Arabic, French, and Quran lessons.

Since then, Princess Lalla Khadija has taken part in several official events. In 2018, she attended a presentation on education reforms in Morocco.

In February 2019, she joined Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and other members of the Royal Family in welcoming King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain during their official visit. Later that year, she attended Pope Francis’s visit to Morocco.

In December 2019, Princess Lalla Khadija presided over the opening of the vivarium at the National Zoo in Rabat, highlighting her growing role in public events.

Most recently, in October 2024, she was part of the official welcome for French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte during their state visit to Morocco. She also attended the signing of several agreements between Morocco and France.

Princess Lalla Khadija’s 18th birthday is a special occasion for the Moroccan people, who use this day to express their loyalty to the King and their pride in the Royal Family.

It also stresses the Princess’s growing role as a young member of the Royal Family, representing the values and traditions of Morocco.
