Rabat – Global furniture brand IKEA has alerted its customers to stop using certain outdoor LED lighting chains and lamps that were recalled due to issues related to a non-compliant plug.

A statement from the company on Wednesday said IKEA recalled the affected outdoor LED lighting chains and lamps that are affected by a manufacturing error.

The company pledged that it takes customers’ security as a top priority, acknowledging that the recalled products “do not fulfill a relevant safety standard.”

The company further explained that the recalled items could cause an electric shock as assessed by tests seeking to ensure that its products comply with applicable requirements and regulations.

IKEA stressed that despite following the required assessments, it has identified certain plugs that do not comply with relevant safety standards.

“Despite this, it has come to our attention that a certain plug used for the above-listed products does not comply with a relevant safety standard for limiting water ingress due to a manufacturing error,” IKEA wrote, noting that all IKEA outdoor LED lighting chains and lamps that include the affected plug are being recalled.

The company concluded its statement, urging customers to immediately stop using the affected product and call IKEA’s hotlines for a replacement product or a full refund.

It also encourages customers who might have sold the products or lent it to someone else to inform those concerned.

It apologized to customers affected by the recall, calling on customers to visit its website or contact its customer centers for more information.

The list of recalled IKEA products includes an LEDJUS lighting chain in outdoor black, 24 lights, and STRALA LED lighting chain flashing in outdoor gold and 24-star lights.

The company also shared codes for the affected products, including LED-driver under  ICPSH24-2-IL-1.”

Other codes listed on the recalled products are “LED-driver ICPSH24-2-IL-1 (YYWW):  2138, 2141, 2148, 2209, 2215, 2224, 2231, 2236, 2320, 2326, 2332, 2336, 2347, 2409, 2413, 2421, 2423, 2424, 2426, 2434, 2437.”

The list also included an affected plug under  SYK-02F .

This is not the first time IKEA recalled some of its products.

The company made similar decisions throughout the years, including in 2017, when it recalled unstable dressers if not properly anchored to the wall, posing serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that could harm children.

Last year, it also recalled Varmfront power banks due to fire hazard.
