The Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC) has announced the expansion of its electronic business creation platform nationwide.
This platform provides a centralized interface for all necessary administrative procedures, including key entities such as OMPIC, the ministry of justice, the general secretariat of the government, the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) as well as the National Security Fund (CNSS).
Initially launched as a pilot project in Rabat in February 2023, the platform has gradually expanded to other major cities, including Casablanca, Marrakesh, Agadir, Tangier, Fez, Oujda, Laayoune, Beni Mellal and Dakhla. It has now become available across the country.
Since its launch, the platform has facilitated the electronic creation of over 12,000 businesses and registered over 2,400 professionals to use its services.
This initiative aims to simplify business creation, enhance Morocco’s business environment, and attract investment. OMPIC is overseeing this project in collaboration with various government institutions, including the ministry of justice, the ministry of economy and finance, and other relevant bodies.
The implementation of this platform is backed by legal reforms, including three laws, two decrees and two ministerial orders. These reforms define OMPIC’s role, establish procedures for electronic business registration, and define the framework for involved jurisdictions.
Through digitizing and streamlining administrative processes, this platform is expected to accelerate entrepreneurship and contribute to economic growth in Morocco.
The new platform aligns with Morocco’s Digital Strategy 2030, with a vision towards creating 3,000 startups by the end of the decade. Morocco has allocated MAD 11 billion for 2024-2026 period, aiming to train 100,000 people in the digital field annually, and enrich the sector with 240,000 jobs.
