Doha – BYD, the global leader in electrified vehicles, has introduced its new all-electric Seagull model to Morocco, adding to the company’s growing lineup of electric vehicles in North Africa’s automotive sector.

The compact urban vehicle will be available starting Saturday through AutoNejma dealerships across major cities including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, and Tangier.

Designed specifically for urban mobility, the Seagull comes equipped with a 38.88 kWh battery pack, delivering an urban range of 445 kilometers. The vehicle supports both AC and DC charging capabilities, with 7kW AC and 40kW DC charging options.

Using DC fast charging, the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes, making it practical for daily city use.

Powered by a 55kW (77 horsepower) electric motor, the Seagull generates maximum torque of 135Nm and reaches a top speed of 130 km/h.

The vehicle utilizes BYD’s latest technological advances, including the E-Platform 3.0 and innovative Blade Battery technology, which the company has developed to enhance performance and safety.

In terms of dimensions, the compact EV measures 3,780mm in length, 1,715mm in width, and stands 1,580mm tall. The exterior design draws inspiration from ocean wave movements, creating a dynamic and sporty silhouette. The vehicle is available in three color options: black, white, and green.

The interior combines functionality with modern technology, featuring vegan leather sport seats and multiple storage compartments.

A standout feature is the 10.1-inch electrically rotating touchscreen display, which is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The vehicle also incorporates voice control functionality for enhanced user interaction.

Safety features are also integrated, with six airbags and a high-strength body structure. The vehicle’s robust construction is designed to meet high safety standards while maintaining comfort for urban drivers concerned with both security and convenience.

The Seagull will be offered in Morocco exclusively in a single “full option” variant priced at 209,900 MAD ($20,990, including tax). This positioning makes it a competitive entry in the growing electric vehicle market segment.

The launch marks BYD’s sixth model introduction in Morocco since entering the market in July 2023, following the HAN, TANG, ATTO 3, SEAL, and SEAL U PHEV models.

During the launching ceremony in Casablanca, Adil Bennani, General Manager of Auto Nejma, stressed the strategic importance of the new model. “The launch of the BYD Seagull represents a major milestone for BYD in Morocco,” he stated. He underlined the vehicle’s role in advancing urban mobility solutions in the country.
