Rabat – Morocco’s karate team returned from the Karate 1 Premier League in Hangzhou, China, with two medals, marking a strong performance on the international stage.
Said Oubaya secured gold in the under-67 kg category after an intense final against Jordan’s Abdel Rahman Almastafa, who settled for silver.
The bronze went to Azerbaijan’s Nuran Rzazade and China’s Shin Cheng-Chung.
Nisrine Brouk added to Morocco’s success, earning a bronze medal in the under-68 kg category. Japan’s Kama Tsubasa took the top spot in the division.
The competition, held from March 14 to 16, brought together some of the world’s top karate athletes.
Morocco continues to gain recognition on the global sports stage, with athletes excelling across various disciplines, from football and athletics to combat sports like karate.
In December 2024, Morocco´s karate team finished third in the Arab Karate Championships in Amman, Jordan, and brought home 20 medals.
The championships saw fierce competition among 330 athletes from nine countries.
International achievements, such as podium finishes in prestigious competitions, reflect the country’s growing presence in the sports world.
Investments in training facilities, athlete development programs, and international collaborations contribute to this momentum, and position Morocco as a rising force in global sports.
