Rabat – Morocco’s national karate team delivered an outstanding performance at the North Africa Karate Championship in Cairo, Egypt this past weekend, securing a total of 25 medals, including 9 gold.
Competing in both the U14 and U21 categories, the Moroccan squad stood out with their impressive medal haul.
The championship, held on August 17 and 18, featured intense competition among athletes from Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, and Morocco.
The Royal Moroccan Karate Federation (FRMK) took to social media to express their pride and satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“Our Moroccan team, consisting of 27 male and female athletes, shone brightly in this competition. Nearly all of our national team members made it to the podium, earning a remarkable total of 25 medals – 9 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze. Our athletes have truly represented Morocco with pride!” FRMK posted on Facebook.
This outstanding achievement reflects the dedication and skill of the athletes, as well as the effective training and support provided by their coaches.
In their Facebook page post, the federation spotlighted the hard work and commitment of the athletes, stating, “The FRMK is proud to announce the exceptional results achieved by our national team at the North Africa Karate Championship held in Cairo.”
Despite Morocco’s impressive showing, the Egyptian team, with over 300 participants, topped the overall medal standings.
In 2023, Morocco achieved a notable victory at the inaugural Para Karate event of the African Karate Championship, earning two medals. Among them, Said Mahmoudi excelled by winning the prestigious gold medal in the “Para exhibition” category.
