Rabat – Moroccan police arrested on Friday a 28-year-old French-Algerian man living in Morocco illegally.
The arrest took place in Marrakech after the man was caught driving recklessly, endangering public safety, and using a fake identity.
Moroccan authorities also revealed that the suspect is wanted internationally based on a French arrest warrant.
According to a statement from the Moroccan police, the suspect was seen driving his vehicle in an exhibitionist manner on the streets of Marrakech, putting both his own safety and that of others at risk.
When the police tried to stop him, he refused to comply and later provided false identity details.
Further checks revealed that the suspect is on Interpol’s wanted list. He is being sought by French authorities for involvement in serious crimes, including vandalism, kidnapping, unlawful detention, and death threats as part of an organized criminal gang.
The suspect has been placed under provisional detention while authorities prepare to send his case for extradition to France.
Police added that the arrest is part of Morocco’s continuous efforts to tackle dangerous driving and cooperate with international authorities to apprehend criminals wanted across borders.
