Rabat – Police in Kenitra foiled a major drug trafficking operation early Thursday morning after receiving detailed intelligence from the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The security operation took place on the road between Kenitra and Sidi Allal El Bahraoui, leading to the seizure of one ton and 924 kilograms of hashish.

Police also intercepted a utility vehicle suspected of transporting the drugs. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 50 bundles of hashish, weighing a total of 1.9 tons. Officers also found several fake license plates.

The driver of the vehicle managed to escape, and security forces are working to identify and arrest him. Investigations are ongoing to find all those involved in this criminal activity.

This operation is part of the continuous efforts by Morocco’s security services to fight drug trafficking and illegal substances.

Last week, also with DGSN support, police in Tetouan seized three kilograms of cocaine and 94,728 psychotropic pills.

Police also seized 14 kilograms of cannabis, eight knives, and money in national and foreign currency likely to be from drug trafficking proceeds.

The two suspects in question are brothers, aged 29 and 41, in the rural areas of Laktout near Ouezzane. They allegedly have connections to a criminal network involved in drug trafficking.
