Rabat – The National Company of Highways of Morocco (ADM) has shared travel tips for drivers using highways during the Eid Al Fitr holiday. The company warned that traffic will be very heavy on certain days and advised travelers to plan ahead to avoid congestion and accidents.
Highways will be especially busy on Friday and Saturday between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM ADM noted in the statement on its official website. They will also be busy on Tuesday or Wednesday (depending on when Eid Al Fitr falls) between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM, when many travelers will return home after the holiday.
To ensure safe and smooth travel, ADM recommended that drivers plan their trips in advance to avoid peak hours and check real-time traffic updates by downloading the ADMTRAFIC app.
In addition, it urged travelers to be aware of weather conditions and drive carefully in case of strong winds, rain, or fog.
ADM also advised travelers to check and recharge their Jawaz toll pass before traveling. It reminded travelers that they can buy and recharge the Jawaz pass at service area stores along the highways.
The national highways company also advised drivers to take breaks every two hours to rest and make sure they inspect their car tires before starting their journey.
Morocco is expected to observe Eid Al Fitr on Monday, but the official announcement will be made after the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon.
The moon sighting is set to take place on Sunday. If the moon is observed, Morocco will celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Monday. If not, the holiday will take place on Tuesday.
