New Video Exposes Israel’s False Claims About Gaza Attack That Killed 15 Medics

The video shows that the ambulances targeted by the Israeli strike were clearly marked and had their emergency lights on.

Footage from Israel's attack on Gaza medics

Rabat – A video released on Saturday has revealed that Israel gave false information about a deadly attack on March 23 that killed 15 Palestinian medics in southern Gaza.

The Israeli army had claimed that the vehicles were moving “suspiciously” without headlights or emergency signals, and that the medics did not coordinate their movements with the army. It had also reported that nine members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad were killed in the strike.

But the video, which was filmed by Rifat Radwan, one of the medics killed in the attack, tells a different story. The footage shows that the vehicles were clearly marked as emergency vehicles and had their emergency lights on. This contradicts Israel’s statement.

The medic who filmed the video was later found buried in a mass grave in Gaza, along with the 14 other medics killed in the attack.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said that 14 bodies were found after the attack. The victims included eight Red Crescent workers, five Civil Defense staff, and one worker from a United Nations agency. A few days later, the Palestinian Civil Defense said they had recovered the body of another team member, bringing the total number of victims to 15.

Red Crescent spokesperson Nebal Farsakh said that Israeli soldiers “opened fire frantically and hysterically” at the medics.

“This video unequivocally refutes the occupation’s claims that Israeli forces did not randomly target ambulances, and that some vehicles had approached suspiciously without lights or emergency markings,” the Red Crescent said in a statement.

Israeli media reported that Israel said it will launch a full investigation into the killing of the 15 emergency workers.

This is one of many deadly incidents during Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, which began in October 2023. Since then, over 50,600 Palestinians have been killed, according to local health authorities.

On Saturday alone, at least 29 more Palestinians were killed by Israeli airstrikes across Gaza.

The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) is urging for an immediate ceasefire and for humanitarian aid to reach people in need. “With over 55,000 people reported killed and an estimated 1.9 million displaced, people in Gaza have endured unimaginable suffering,” the agency said in a statement today.

Israel has also blocked essential supplies from entering Gaza for over a month, including food, water, medicine, and fuel. Aid groups warn that the humanitarian situation is worsening by the day.
