Rabat – King Mohammed VI has extended his congratulations to Morocco’s women’s futsal champions, applauding them for lifting the Africa Women’s Futsal Cup of Nations on Wednesday in Rabat.

“On this occasion of your brilliant victory in the Africa Women’s Futsal Cup of Nations (Morocco 2025), it gives us great pleasure to extend to you-and through you, to all members of the team-our warmest congratulations for this Africa title,” the King said in his message.

This title reinforces the steady progress of women’s football in Morocco, noting that the win is a source of pride, describing the Lionesses as a promising squad, the monarch argued.

He also congratulated the women’s futsal team for securing their spot for the first-ever Women’s Futsal World Cup that will take place later this year in the Philippines.

In addition, the King described Morocco’s women’s victory as a confirmation of the prominent role held by Moroccan female athletes who are determined to achieve more honorable results.

The monarch convoluted his message, expressing deep appreciation for everyone who contributed to the well-deserved continental triumph, including players, technical staff, medical and administrative teams, and officials.

Morocco’s women’s futsal team won the title on Wednesday with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tanzania.

They made a remarkable comeback after falling behind 2-0 early in the match.

Fascinated by the turn of events, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) highlighted that the Atlas Lionesses roared back to win the match in a last-minute thriller.

Highlighting that the trophy is the first ever continental title for the lionesses, the CAF stressed that this win did not just hand Morocco their maiden trophy in futsal; it also secured the North African country a spot in the World Cup.
