Rabat – Interpol President Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi has offered a fresh commendation of Morocco’s security efforts, tackling both local and regional challenges and threats.

He made his remarks on Friday in El Jadida at the official ceremony of the 6th National Security Open Day, which has programming that will continue until May 21.

Al Raisi described Morocco’s security system as advanced, efficient, professional, and committed to respecting human rights, adding that the North African country demonstrated its ability to confront escalating security challenges.

Al Raisi also shed light on King Mohammed VI’s efforts and determination to consistently give special care and attention to bolstering security efforts locally and on regional and international levels.

  • Morocco has been an active member of Interpol for nearly seven decades, contributing to regional security in coordination with international partners.

As a member, Morocco has long offered important intelligence assisting Interpol to arrest high-profile criminals active in different drug and human trafficking networks.

As part of this cooperation, Morocco assisted several countries in dismantling terror networks and arresting terrorist.

Al Raisi said the North African country has played “a key role in supporting numerous global security projects and initiatives,” noting that Morocco’s efforts have significantly contributed to strengthening international security cooperation mechanisms, particularly in the fight against migrant smuggling networks, human trafficking, drug trafficking, terrorism, and organized crime.”

The Interpol official recalled that Morocco’s Police Commissioner Mhamed Dkhissi was appointed to Interpol Vice President for Africa, noting that this reflects the growing international confidence in the professionalism of the North African country’s security personnel.

He also remarked on Morocco’s hosting of the 93rd Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech, noting that the event represents a “culmination of Morocco’s long-term efforts to modernize, reform, and continuously upgrade its national security system.”

For his part, the Secretary of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, Mohamed Ben Ali Koman, said Morocco’s security services made significant strides in “perfect harmony with the country’s acceleration development.”

Morocco is working to build bridges of communication between the police and society through different initiatives, including the Open Days, he said.
