Rabat – Two key government ministers sat down in Rabat to chart a shared path for Morocco’s green ambitions on Wednesday.
Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition, and Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, held a coordination meeting to examine new ways their departments can work more closely on strategic national goals.
The conversation focused on how to bring cleaner energy into every corner of Morocco’s transport system, by land, sea, and air.
The two ministries looked into practical avenues to introduce renewable energy molecules and their derivatives into existing infrastructure.
They also aim to lay the foundation for a transport system that emits less carbon without compromising efficiency or growth.
Behind the deal was a broader contemplation of Morocco’s industrial future. Both ministers are interested in tapping the power of the large value chains, from solar and wind to cables and batteries.
They consider these industries as major opportunities for green investment as well as building blocks of industrial independence.
The session represented an open forum for discussing ways to progress faster and more efficiently.
The ministers called for a responsive, innovative reaction to forthcoming collaborative actions. They also agreed to boost intersectoral coordination to remedy challenges related to energy transition and transport reform.
This meeting follows a broader national push to align Morocco’s energy and transport strategies.
By joining forces, the two ministries hope to reinforce the country’s place as a credible player in the region’s green economy and shape a future where sustainability and industrial strength go hand in hand.
Last month, Benali said that Morocco is on a steady path to becoming a regional hub for renewable energy and strategic minerals.
She also mentioned that over the past 20 years, Morocco has made substantial investments in energy infrastructure, which has allowed the country to produce competitive electricity from renewable sources.
