Marrakech – The Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, has dismissed Imane Belmaati from her position as Director General of the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC).
This decision comes approximately 14 months after her appointment to the role in April 2024.
According to converging reports, Belmaati was removed from her position due to “unachieved objectives.” Her dismissal follows a damning report conducted by the ministry, which showed the agency’s failure to implement the government’s employment initiatives.
The decision was primarily motivated by delays in executing the roadmap aimed at better targeting job seekers and creating concrete professional opportunities.
Belmaati’s insufficient track record and inability to propose an operational action plan aligned with government employment ambitions were key factors in her termination.
Sources familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity, also cited a lack of responsiveness in addressing dysfunctions identified in reports from the Court of Auditors and the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Finance.
These shortcomings further contributed to the minister’s decision to end her tenure.
Before her official appointment, Belmaati had served as interim director following the dismissal of her predecessor, Noureddine Benkhalil.
She was subsequently confirmed in her position only to be dismissed herself a little over a year later.
ANAPEC, operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Employment, fulfills several crucial functions.
These include labor market intermediation, reception, information and guidance for job seekers and young entrepreneurs, business support, and the development of training and professional integration programs.
An interim director is expected to be appointed soon to manage ANAPEC until a permanent replacement is named to head the agency.
