Rabat – Moroccan ministries, international institutional and academic partners signed a group of memoranda of understanding on Wednesday, to advance the use of artificial intelligence not only efficiently but also ethically.
One of the key agreements includes a deal between the Ministry of Digital Transition and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).
Minister of Digital Transition Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and President of UM6P Hicham El Habti signed the agreement, launching a strategic partnership in the field of data centers.
The deal seeks to boost collaboration between the ministry and the school in research, innovation, training, sustainability, and digital sovereignty.
The ministry and UM6P are both committed to building national capacity in sustainable data governance.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the first National Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Seghrouchni also signed an agreement with Mohamed Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, to integrate digital technologies into the school curriculum, develop tailored digital educational content, and boost digital skills for both teachers and students, as well as fostering innovation in education and sports institutions.
In addition, the digital transition minister signed an agreement with the President of the Board of Credit Agricole du Maroc, Mohamed Fikrat, focusing on a digital inclusion program to deploy digital and physical access points for e-services, digitizing agricultural microentreprises, and supporting rural innovation.
Minister Seghrouchni and Minister of Economic Inclusion Younes Sekkouri also signed an agreement to support job integration through AI solutions and develop labor market analysis platforms, as well as assist in career transitions and support microenterprises.
Several partnerships were also signed, including an agreement between the Ministry of Digital Transition and the UN Development Program to position Morocco as a regional leader in digital transformation.
Morocco has reaffirmed its commitment to continue to boost its AI cooperation on different levels.
In March, Morocco launched a national program to introduce children to digital technology and specifically AI.
The agreement is part of Morocco Digital 2030, which the North African country launched to establish its robust digital ecosystem.
