Kylian Mbappé will reportedly wear Real Madrid’s No. 10 shirt from the 2025–26 season, following the departure of Luka Modrić.
The French forward, who joined Los Blancos last summer, wore the No. 9 shirt in his debut campaign, scoring 44 goals in all competitions. That number previously belonged to Karim Benzema.
With Modrić’s exit confirmed, the No. 10 is now vacant. Mbappé wore the same number at Monaco and continues to do so with the French national team.
According to ESPN, the plan was always for Mbappé to take over the shirt once it became available. Arda Güler had been linked to the number, but reports suggest Mbappé was the clear internal choice. He would have waited another year had Modrić extended his stay.
Modrić wore the shirt for eight seasons during a trophy-laden spell in Madrid, winning 28 titles – the most by any player in the club’s history.
