Rabat – King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), chaired on Thursday afternoon the military oath-taking ceremony held at Mechouar Square in the Royal Palace of Tetouan. The event was part of the celebrations marking the 26th anniversary of the King’s accession to the Throne.
Accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, the Monarch oversaw this annual ceremony, which honored a new generation of officers graduating from Morocco’s foremost military and paramilitary institutions.
This year’s graduating class was named the “Sultan Ahmed Al-Mansour Al-Dahbi” promotion, in tribute to the historic Moroccan Sultan whose reign was distinguished by prosperity, internal stability, and the strengthening of diplomatic and economic ties with both Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.
Delivering a speech during the ceremony, King Mohammed VI praised the dedication, professionalism, and sense of duty shown by Morocco’s armed and security forces. He urged the newly commissioned officers to uphold the core values of patriotism, discipline, and unwavering loyalty to the Kingdom’s eternal motto: “God – Homeland – King.”
The 2025 graduating cohort included officers from Morocco’s premier military academies:
- The Royal Military Academy
- The Royal Air School
- The Royal Naval School
- The Royal School of Military Health Services
The ceremony also included officers promoted from the ranks in 2024, graduates of specialized training programs, and members of previous classes who had not yet taken the official oath. These officers represent various branches of the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Auxiliary Forces.
Following the oath and the King’s address, the monarch, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, saluted the national flag and reviewed the detachments of the graduating officers.
Several high-ranking officials attended the event, including the Head of Government, presidents of both Houses of Parliament, royal advisors, members of the cabinet, senior officers from the FAR General Staff, foreign military attachés accredited in Rabat, and other prominent civilian and military figures.
On behalf of King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided over a series of official engagements in Tetouan.
In a formal ceremony held at the Officers’ Club of the Royal Guard, the Crown Prince received a message of loyalty, allegiance, and best wishes addressed to the Monarch by members of the FAR.
The message, presented by General de Corps d’Armée Mohamed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ unwavering devotion to King Mohammed VI and their steadfast commitment to the Alaouite Throne.
In continuation of the celebrations, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided over a royal luncheon hosted by King Mohammed VI in honor of the guests and participants of the graduation ceremony. The lunch, held at the same Officers’ Club, gathered a wide array of high-ranking officials and dignitaries.
