Rabat — As starvation and malnutrition continue to spread under Israel’s months-long blockade, Israel-induced starvation in Gaza deepens the humanitarian catastrophe, claiming five more lives in the past 24 hours, including two children.

The latest fatalities bring the death toll from famine to 217, of whom 100 are children.

Hospitals in Gaza report being swamped by new arrivals daily, many in advanced stages of malnutrition.

Doctors say they are operating with diminishing medical supplies, while large numbers of patients cannot receive adequate care due to destroyed facilities and power shortages.

Witnesses describe chaotic scenes near aid drops, where desperation collides with military presence. “People are dying in front of our eyes — either from hunger or bullets,” one volunteer in central Gaza told the Palestinian WAFA agency.

International humanitarian agencies have warned that the genocide-torn Gaza is facing an “unfolding famine,” with food and clean water shortages now compounded by persistent insecurity.

International calls for an immediate ceasefire and allowing aid access continue to mount, but Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) assaults in densely populated areas show no signs of slowing, raising fears of an even greater death toll in the days ahead.

The United Nations Security Council is holding an emergency session to discuss Israel’s plan to seize Gaza City and forcibly displace nearly a million Palestinians.

The plans to fully conquer Gaza and take control over the enclave have stirred an international wave of condemnation and criticism.

A growing number of international major powers, including France, the UK, Canada, and Portugal, have announced they will recognize Palestine’s statehood during the 80th United Nations General Assembly, to be held in New York in September.

These countries have raised concerns over the inhumane situation in the enclave and Netanyahu’s full occupation of the genocide-torn Gaza.
