Rabat – FIFA has announced the launch of the FIFAe Festival, a new global event that will mix football, gaming, and entertainment.
The first edition will take place next year, with future events planned for 2027 and 2028.
The FIFAe Festival is designed to go beyond traditional esports competitions, FIFA said in a press release.
It will feature multiple games, live music, creator showcases, career opportunities, and industry events, turning it into a major celebration of digital football culture, it added.
The goal is to attract professional players, as well as fans, young people, and newcomers to the world of esports.
This initiative is part of FIFA’s Strategic Objectives for the Global Game: 2023-2027, which aim to engage more young people through football.
The international sporting body has called on cities around the world to apply to host the event, describing it as a unique chance for Member Associations and host cities to become part of a pioneering project that will shape the future of digital football.
“With the tender process now officially open, FIFA invites pioneering cities to become founding destinations of a landmark event that will shape digital football’s future,” reads the statement.
The tender process is now open and will run until 31 October. Cities are asked to submit their initial interest by September 12.
FIFA also invited commercial brands to partner with the festival, saying it offers them the opportunity to connect with a fast-growing community of over six million fans worldwide in football, esports, and gaming.
