Rabat – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced that Haytham Eissa will succeed Antoine Salle de Chou as the bank’s head in Morocco.
In a statement, ERBD said today that Eissa will be based in Casablanca and will be in charge of EBRD’s investments and operations within the country.
Eissa commented on his appointment, saying he is honored to take on his new responsibility.
“Building on the EBRD’s strong track record in Morocco, I am committed to driving even greater impact in the years ahead,” he said.
He also conveyed ERBD’s commitment to continue its investment in different sectors, including the economy and infrastructure, as well as contributing to small businesses’ empowerment.
Eissa joined EBRD in 2012, where he became the regional head of infrastructure in the SEMED (Southern and Eastern Mediterranean) region and deputy head of Egypt.
With a dual Egyptian and British nationality, Eissa played a critical role in establishing the bank’s activities in this sector, the bank said.
Eissa, who holds an MBA and a BBA in International Business, has also taken the lead in facilitating award-winning transactions in the transport and municipal sectors, as well as implementing the Infrastructure Support Programme in Morocco during COVID-19.
Before joining EBRD, he worked in investment banking and corporate leasing.
The European bank has long emphasized the importance of Morocco, which is a founding member. Morocco became a country of operation in 2012, and since then has invested more than €5.8 billion in over 120 projects.
