Rabat – Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch hosted an official luncheon in Tetouan on Thursday to mark the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI‘s accession to the Throne, in the presence of Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid.
The luncheon formed part of the official Throne Day celebrations, which also included the royal reception presided over earlier in the day by King Mohammed VI in the nearby city of M’diq.
Upon their arrival at the venue, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard, which rendered military honors, and were then welcomed by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
The two princes were also greeted by the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region and Governor of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, Younes Tazi, the President of the Regional Council, Omar Moro, the Governor of Tetouan Province, and several senior regional and local officials.
The luncheon brought together a broad range of Morocco’s political, institutional, diplomatic, and military leadership. Guests included the speakers of both houses of Parliament, advisers to King Mohammed VI, members of the government, heads of constitutional institutions, and senior officers of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
Also attending were members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Morocco, representatives of the Moroccan community living abroad, as well as prominent civilian and military personalities.
Earlier on Thursday, King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and Prince Moulay Ahmed, presided over an official reception at M’diq-Fnideq Prefecture Square to commemorate the 27th anniversary of his accession to the Throne.
During the reception, the Sovereign received congratulations from senior Moroccan officials, military commanders, judicial leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, religious representatives, and distinguished international guests, including FIFA President Gianni Infantino and members of Morocco’s national football team.
The annual Throne Day celebrations are among Morocco’s most important national events, bringing together senior state officials, foreign diplomats, military leaders, and representatives from across Moroccan society to commemorate the King’s accession to the Throne and reaffirm national unity and the continuity of the country’s institutions.
