Mohammedia – In a move to strengthen Morocco’s healthcare system, Minister of Health and Social Protection Amine Tehraoui conducted an extensive field visit across several medical facilities in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region. The tour aimed to assess hospital services and monitor the progress of ongoing healthcare projects.
The visit began at the Moulay Youssef Hospital in Rabat, where Minister Tehraoui inspected the hospital’s care units, specialized departments, and outpatient facilities. Emphasis was placed on the quality of patient services and identifying ways to enhance treatment and care standards.
The minister also reviewed the preparations for the hospital’s new intensive care unit (ICU), scheduled to open on September 15, 2025. This state-of-the-art unit, equipped with eight beds and advanced biomedical equipment, is expected to improve critical care services and relieve pressure on other regional hospitals.
Following Rabat, the minister traveled to Temara to visit the Lalla Aicha Hospital. At this facility, he evaluated service delivery and the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare for the local population. The assessment focused on ensuring that patients receive high-quality care while identifying potential areas for operational improvements.

The tour continued in Tamesna, where Tehraoui inspected the construction site of the upcoming Proximity Hospital. The project, with a total investment of MAD 80 million, is in its final stages and will provide 45 beds, serving over 60,000 residents in the surrounding communities.
The minister stressed the importance of adhering to project timelines and technical standards to guarantee both the quality and longevity of the new facility.
Minister Tehraoui’s visit is part of Morocco’s broader national program to modernize its healthcare system. The initiative seeks to implement reforms that ensure equitable access to modern, high-quality healthcare services for all citizens.
By personally inspecting these hospitals, the minister highlighted the government’s commitment to improving health infrastructure and service delivery across the country.
The visit also served as an opportunity to reinforce accountability among healthcare administrators and staff, ensuring that projects meet their intended goals.
Tehraoui emphasized that healthcare modernization is not only about building new facilities but also about enhancing operational efficiency, staff training, and patient care standards.
With the opening of the new ICU unit in Rabat and the near-completion of the Proximity Hospital in Tamesna, residents in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region can expect improved access to medical services, especially for critical and emergency care.
The ministry’s hands-on approach signals a proactive effort to monitor healthcare developments and address challenges promptly.
