Fouzi Lekjaa, head of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has been re-elected to the executive council of the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA).
The decision was made at UAFA’s 28th General Assembly in Riyadh on Monday. Lekjaa will continue to represent Africa on the council, working alongside Egypt’s Hani Abou Rida, Mauritania’s Ahmed Yahya and Sudan’s Dr Moatasem Jaafar.
In the same meeting, Morocco was confirmed as host of the Arab Women’s Cup in 2027. The final stage of the tournament will run from 2 to 18 September.
The Arab Women’s Cup brings together women’s national teams from across the Arab world. The first edition took place in 2006 in Egypt, with Algeria beating Morocco in the final. The most recent tournament was in 2021, also in Egypt, where Jordan won the trophy with a 1-0 victory over Tunisia.
