Fez — The Marrakech Police Prefecture issued a statement denying claims of unjust denial at the border made against National Security officers at Marrakech Menara Airport.
The accusations came from a British national who arrived at the border police without a passport that would allow her to enter Morocco.
Marrakech police officials opened an investigation into the allegations against border police officers at Marrakech Menara Airport.
Following a revision of surveillance cameras at arrival and boarding areas, the investigation proved that the published information was incorrect and required clarification and correction.
The true story told by police
The UK national arrived at Marrakech Menara Airport at 11:00 a.m. on July 31st without a passport that would legally allow her to enter the Moroccan territory.
It is mandatory for all foreign visitors to have proper legal documentation for entry and residence in the country.
As the woman had claimed she lost her passport on the plane, Menara airport officials coordinated with the airline services and cargo company to search for the missing travel document inside the aircraft.
However, the search found no passport.
Security response
Without the necessary documents required for foreign entry and residence in Morocco, officials prevented the woman from entering the country.
However, they arranged for her to travel back to her home country on the same day aboard the first available flight.
Security officials reviewed surveillance camera footage but found no video or scenes that supported the traveler’s claims.
The Marrakech Security Prefecture stressed its commitment to clarifying the facts of this case, confirming that foreigners’ entry and residence in Morocco must follow legal procedures that, as defined by law.
