Rabat– The Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) is moving forward with its “Airports 2030” strategy by introducing upgrades to the exterior areas and entrances of Marrakech-Menara and Agadir-Al Massira airports.

In a recent statement, ONDA said the new improvements aim to provide passengers with a smoother, more intuitive, and comfortable experience, with key changes including redesigned traffic and drop-off zones, updated signage for easier navigation, and direct terminal access based on airline.

Reception areas have also been completely reimagined to streamline arrivals and departures, enhance service quality, and meet the expectations of travelers and their companions.

The statement noted that millions of tourists arrive in Morocco by air each year, with Marrakech and Agadir airports serving as major entry points and playing a central role in the country’s tourism industry.

ONDA stated that these upgrades were made possible through close collaboration with several national and regional bodies, including the Ministry of the Interior, the Directorate of Immigration and Border Surveillance, the National Security (DGSN), the Royal Gendarmerie, Customs, and the regional authorities of Marrakech and Agadir.

By improving passengers’ first and last impressions of the airport, ONDA deems these developments as a key step toward building smarter, more connected, and traveler-centric airports.

The Airports 2030 initiative is designed to align Morocco’s airport infrastructure with top international standards, especially as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, marking the first time nations from two continents will jointly host the event.

Earlier this month, Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh confirmed that the Moroccan government has approved a plan to expand national airport capacity from 30 million to 80 million passengers by 2030.
