Bilal El Khennouss once again showed why Stuttgart signed him, helping his side secure a hard-fought win over Celta Vigo in their Europa League group opener.
The first goal came in the 51st minute. Stuttgart’s keeper launched a long ball forward, and Bouanani timed his run perfectly to slot it past the Celta goalkeeper. El Khennouss, playing as a creative midfielder, was central to Stuttgart’s attacking moves, drifting across the flanks, testing the defence with a shot on target, and delivering two key passes that nearly led to more goals.
El Khennouss then added his own goal later in the second half. After a corner involving teammate Stiller, he moved into the box and finished calmly, marking his first European goal and his second consecutive strike in the group stage. His vision, movement, and composure kept Celta under constant pressure.
This win also adds to El Khennouss’ impressive start at Stuttgart. Since joining the club, he has played three games and already scored two goals, quickly becoming an important figure in their squad.
Celta tried to fight back, with Achilesias pulling one back in the 88th minute. Moroccan international Younes Abdeladli came on in the 62nd minute and impressed, creating a few chances, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
El Khennouss left the pitch in the 70th minute, having already made a major impact. Stuttgart held on for the win, and much of the credit goes to their Moroccan playmaker. His early form suggests he could be a key player for the club this season, especially as they aim to make a mark in Europe.
