Rabat – Marsa Maroc, Morocco’s leading port operator, recorded a solid financial and operational performance in the first half of 2025.
According to a press release issued Monday, the group handled 33.6 million tons of goods between January and June, an increase of 8% compared to the same period last year.
Consolidated revenue rose by 14.5%, reaching MAD 2.842 billion ($285 million). Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) climbed 17% year-on-year to MAD 1.561 billion ($156 million), supported by growth across all business segments and disciplined cost management, despite a 9.5% rise in operating expenses.
The results come as Marsa Maroc pushes ahead with its 2030 strategic plan.
In February, the operator secured the concessions for the East and West container terminals of Nador West Med, through alliances with Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), a subsidiary of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), and Boluda Towage France SAS.
These agreements expanded Marsa Maroc’s transshipment portfolio to three container terminals, boosting its overall capacity to nine million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
Investments during the first half of 2025 amounted to MAD 1.293 billion ($129 million), largely directed toward superstructures and equipment in Nador.
The company also plans to inject an additional MAD 4 billion ($400 million) over the next five years to modernize and expand port facilities in Casablanca and Jorf Lasfar, two of Morocco’s most critical industrial and trade hubs.
Marsa Maroc’s performance illustrates the growing importance of Morocco as a regional maritime and logistics gateway.
With major projects like Nador West Med and the expansion of Casablanca’s capacity, the country is positioning itself as a competitive player in global shipping routes.
The latest figures confirm that Morocco’s port strategy is strengthening domestic trade flows and attracting global shipping alliances, reinforcing the country’s ambition to emerge as a leading logistics hub for Africa and beyond.
