Morocco has been appointed Vice-President of the Small and Medium Enterprises Network of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-SMENET), the National Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (Maroc PME) announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, Maroc PME said Morocco’s appointment, alongside Saudi Arabia, took place during the inaugural event of the OIC SME Network, held on the sidelines of the 2nd Azerbaijani Halal Trade Forum on October 7–8 in Baku.
According to the agency, this nomination “represents a major acknowledgment of Morocco’s leadership in developing SMEs among OIC member countries” and “reflects Maroc PME’s commitment to actively contributing to the promotion of the Moroccan, regional, and international entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
Morocco was represented at the event by Anouar Alaoui Ismaili, Director General of Maroc PME, who participated in the adoption of the Baku Declaration.
Speaking at the event, Ismaili expressed Morocco’s intention “to jointly build a genuine network of economic cooperation and solidarity, as well as a platform for the exchange of best practices among member countries, to strengthen collective capacities and foster more inclusive and sustainable development.”
He emphasized that with “recognized expertise in business support and development,” Maroc PME is ready to contribute actively to this collective momentum.
Backed by a wide network of experts in fields such as innovation, marketing, and industrialization, Maroc PME also aims to share its experience in key sectors like tourism, green industry, and exports within the Network, Ismaili added.
The OIC SME Network aims to enhance economic and institutional cooperation among member states, promote the exchange of best practices and expertise, and support the growth of competitive and sustainable small and medium enterprises.
