Rabat – Morocco welcomed today the announcement made by US President Donald Trump regarding a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

A statement from the Moroccan Foreign Affairs Ministry conveyed Morocco’s appreciation  for the “tireless efforts and personal engagement of President Donald Trump, which contributed decisively to achieving this hopeful outcome, and also values the persistent efforts of all mediators involved.”

The statement also calls on all parties to implement the agreement in a “manner that preserves lives, facilitates the release of hostages and prisoners, ensures the rapid and sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid, initiates the reconstruction process, and opens the way for a just, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.”

Morocco also reaffirmed its firm commitment to the two-state solution as the indispensable basis to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.

It reiterated the support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.

It also emphasizes Palestinian territorial integrity, stressing that Gaza is part of the Palestinian state.

Morocco concluded its statement, reiterating its full readiness to actively contribute to all agreed stages and pathways to ensure the rights of Palestinians and support stability in the Middle East.

Trump announced that Hamas and Israel agreed on the first phase of a peace framework, which ensures a ceasefire as well as the release of Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners.

Trump announced the news on Wednesday, noting that all captives would be released “very soon.”

He also announced that Israel will withdraw its occupation forces as part of the agreement.
