Rabat – King Mohammed VI appointed Fouad Chafiqi as the new Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Education, Training, and Scientific Research (CSERFS), succeeding Aziz Kaichouh, the council announced on Thursday.
In a statement, the council extended its “deep gratitude and appreciation to Aziz Kichouh for his sincere efforts and valuable contributions throughout his tenure in service of the council’s work and initiatives.”
The advisory body – which is tasked by law to provide opinions on national education, training, and research policies, as well as on the performance and objectives of public institutions operating in these fields – congratulated Chafiqi on the royal trust placed in him.
The council expressed its confidence that the new Secretary-General will “carry out his mission with success and dedication” and continue to advance the institution’s role in evaluating and guiding Morocco’s education and research policies.
Morocco has taken significant strides in recent years to bolster the quality and governance of its education system. The country has undertaken a series of reforms aimed at modernizing school curricula, improving teacher training, and ensuring greater equity and access to education across regions.
Efforts have also focused on strengthening institutional governance and aligning educational programs with the needs of a rapidly changing labor market.
