Rabat — Morocco’s government is launching an ambitious plan to digitize public services and increase data transparency across the country.
Speaking to parliament’s oral question session on Monday, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni announced that her department is implementing several projects under the “Morocco Digital 2030” roadmap.
According to the official, the ministry is preparing new legislation to govern the digitization of public services, as officials are also planning to introduce regulations on open public data.
These legal and regulatory changes will create a stronger framework for Morocco’s digital transformation, the minister indicated.
Detailing developments made by the country in this field, she indicated that several government sectors are already working with the ministry to simplify and digitize their services. The education system now allows students to apply for the baccalaureate exam online and parents to register their children in schools through digital platforms.
Meanwhile, citizens can transfer vehicle ownership and apply for childcare facility licenses electronically. The government also offers online access to business tax support and income tax benefits for companies in the outsourcing sector.
The ministry has created several digital gateways to connect citizens with public services. A national registry of digital services now hosts more than 600 online services.
A national data-sharing platform allows government agencies to exchange information efficiently, she noted, adding that the government is also preparing to launch a digital account platform.
Government agencies are – according to the minister – working on modernizing their operations by improving their databases and developing digital infrastructure.
To facilitate the adoption of digitization, the ministry provides financial support to help agencies digitize their services.
However, in order to ensure the quality of digitized services, officials have established systems to monitor and evaluate the quality of digital services and track performance improvements.
Al-Fallah stressed that these initiatives serve Morocco’s broader digital vision for 2030, coinciding with co-hosting the FIFA 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal. The government aims to build a modern, efficient administration that stays connected to citizens and businesses.
These changes will support the North African country’s overall development and help the country meet the expectations of its people and entrepreneurs.
