Rabat – Following yesterday’s 0.63% gain, the Casablanca Stock Exchange started the trading session on a positive note today, with its main index, the MASI, rising 0.1% to 18,685.48 points.
The MASI 20, which tracks the 20 most liquid stocks, gained 0.17% to reach 1,514.11 points. Meanwhile, the MASI ESG – an index of companies with the highest environmental, social, and governance ratings as published by Moody’s ESG Solutions – advanced 0.45% to 1,274.01 points.
Despite the overall positive trend, the MASI Mid and Small Cap – representing the performance of smaller and medium-sized companies – fell 0.66% to 1,856.47 points.
Among individual stocks, SMI led the gains with a significant 5.26% increase, closing at MAD2,700.Â
Other strong performers included Résidences Dar Saada, which rose 2.31% to MAD177, Aradei Capital up 1.72% at MAD467.9, Managem climbing 1.48% to MAD6,089, and Douja Prom Addoha adding 1.42% to MAD36.51.
These gains suggest growing investor interest in certain large-cap and real estate-focused companies.
On the other side, several stocks experienced notable declines. Colorado fell 3.28% to MAD82.5, Delta Holding dropped 2.53% to MAD77, Aluminium du Maroc declined 2.04% to MAD1,781, CIH decreased 1.91% to MAD405.1, and BCP slipped 1.74% to MAD282.Â
These movements reflect selective selling pressure in specific sectors despite the broader market gains.
Market analysts note that the mixed performance between large-cap and mid- and small-cap stocks indicates that while investor sentiment is generally positive, caution remains.
The slight rise in ESG-rated companies also reflects ongoing interest in sustainable investment practices in Morocco.
Tuesday’s trading session demonstrates a steady start for the Casablanca Stock Exchange, with the main indices showing modest gains while smaller companies face challenges.
Investors are closely monitoring stock movements as they react to both domestic and international financial developments, preparing for potential fluctuations in the coming days.
